Our residential proxy network powers web scraping, automation and agentic AI companies worldwide. We support thousands of customers across 195+ countries and process 25+ billion proxy requests every month, with 252% year-on-year growth in platform sign-ups. We’ve grown to seven figures in ARR without a sales team. Now we want to go much faster. You will build the platform that Byteful runs on, and your job is to make the rest of the team (and our agents) fast. We want to ship at rocket ship speed with confidence in every change, and that only works if the infrastructure underneath is reliable, observable and safe to change. This is an internal facing role. Your customers are the engineers on our team, and you succeed when they can move quickly without worrying about the platform. The measure of this role is simple: how fast can the team ship, and how confident are they when they do.

Responsibilities

  1. Build and develop CI pipelines such that every engineer is empowered to take their code from development to production
  2. Build the observability and alerting pipelines to find problems before customers do and give the team confidence in what they ship
  3. Run our Kubernetes cluster in production, owning the full management from upgrades to provisioning
  4. Manage our fleet of bare metal nodes and cloud instances across multiple cloud providers and datacenters
  5. Build and operate the internal tools the team relies on every day
  6. Lead and maintain SOC 2 compliance for our infrastructure, from access reviews and change management to the evidence that backs them up, without slowing anyone down
  7. Integrate agentic workflows and infrastructure to support agent-led software development
  8. Willingness and availability to support on-call hours

Requirements, must have

  • 1–5 years of experience running production infrastructure
  • Experience designing and scaling distributed systems, with opinions about what breaks first
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes and production experience, not just deployment
  • Experience with Prometheus and OpenTelemetry
  • Strong networking and Linux fundamentals
  • Ability to take a problem from idea to implementation to monitoring, and document it so the team can operate it without you
  • Comfort with the ambiguity of an early stage company and ability to pick what matters without being told

Requirements, nice to have

  • Proficiency with Go and Python
  • Experience procuring IP subnets through an RIR, broker or lease, and understanding of BGP announcements
  • Experience using AI tools as part of your workflow
  • Familiarity with any of our stack: Ansible, ArgoCD, Kafka, Dragonfly, Postgres, Grafana, Tailscale, Scaleway, DigitalOcean

Working arrangement

  • Small in-person team in Manchester. You will be in the office with us
  • Salary: £36,000–£60,000 per year, negotiable based on your fit and experience
  • Company-wide bonus scheme
